Dean Khalil Bitar delivering the certificates
  Education Pledge Ceremony    
  -     The Department of Education held its Education Pledge Ceremony in Assembly Hall on July 3, 2002. The ceremony was attended by Provost Peter Heath, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dr. Khalil Bitar, and Associate Dean Dr. Ramzi Baalbaki. Also present were faculty of the Education Department, parents, families and friends. Sixty-five graduating students participated in the event, 32 BA students and 33 with Teaching Diplomas. This year's ceremony was a milestone because for the first time the Teaching Diploma/Diploma students were awarded their certificates in the ceremony and joined their BA peers in taking the pledge.
      Provost Heath, Dean Bitar and graduating students' representative Ms. Hana Addam, each addressed the audience about the foundations of 		the teaching profession, the teacher's mission and a teacher's responsibilities in helping mold a better future for our children.
      Dr. Amal BouZeineddine of the Education Department was then invited to the stage where she led the graduating students in taking the Education Pledge. Dean Bitar, Chair of the Education Department Dr. Murad Jurdak, assisted by Ms. Souad Achkar, president of the Education Students' Society, then proceeded to distribute certificates to the BA and Teaching Diploma/Diploma students.
      The two Education students who initiated the concept of the Education Pledge, Ms. Jessy Tadross and Ms. Rania Kassab, presented the Department, represented by Chair Dr. Murad Jurdak, with a framed copy of the Pledge.
      The Ceremony concluded with a brief reception outside Assembly Hall where parents, families, faculty and graduating students met together.
