  2002 Medical Graduation    
  -     Fifty-two physician candidates who completed their training in 2001-2002 received their specialty diplomas on May 31. The ceremony at Issam Fares Hall was attended by Minister of Public Health Suleiman Franjieh, Minister of Tourism Dr. Karam Karam, President of the Lebanese Order of Physicians Dr. Mahmoud Choucair, Provost Peter Heath representing AUB President John Waterbury, and Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of Faculty of Medicine Dr. Nadim Cortas. Also present were a number of MPs, physicians, academic personalities and friends, as well as relatives of the graduates.       First to speak was Dr. Cortas who congratulated the new physicians and called on them to make use of their education for the benefit of humankind by helping the patient. Provost Heath spoke on behalf of AUB President Waterbury, and also congratulated the new physicians on their success after years of hard work, calling on them to continue to learn so they can render better health services to the public. Dr. Choucair and Minister Franjieh then followed with their speeches.
      After distribution of diplomas, graduating physician Dr. George El Ferzli spoke on behalf of his colleagues.
