Children suffer from many diseases that adults suffer from, though they may be congenital (present at birth) or acquired conditions. Children who visit pediatric urologists are usually school aged and younger. The most common condition children suffer from is urinary tract infection, though other common conditions are:
- bed-wetting
- abnormally located urethral opening
- voiding dysfunction
- undescended testis
Children can also develop cancers, such as cancers of the kidney, testis and bladder.
A complete physical examination and medical history is carried out by a pediatric urologist to determine the causes of symptoms and establish a course of treatment for the child.
