Pediatric urology is concerned with any disorder involving the kidneys, ureters, bladder and reproductive organs of babies, children and adolescents of either sex. The most common condition is urinary tract infection (UTI). Other common conditions include:
-
Vesicoureteral Reflux
This is a condition where urine travels backwards through the ureters from the bladder to the kidney, and is usually diagnosed after a child suffers from a urinary tract infection.
-
Nocturnal Enuresis
Also known as bed-wetting, this condition usually stops by adolescence, though medication and behavioral modification treatments are available.
Approximately 15% of patients at the Division are babies, children or adolescents.
