Congress of the Mediterranean Association of Dermatology, Antalya, Turkey. Research Project The impact of topical steroid application on
post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation A common consequence of skin inflammatory insults to the
skin is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In most cases, the main
pigment deposit is in the dermis within macrophages. Usually, this
dyschromia resolves itself in several months. However, deeply-pigmented
sites may remain permanently. The main objective of this study is to try to
answer the following question, gDoes the addition of a topical steroid
to the topical anti-microbial agent following acute injury impact favorably (decrease)
the hyperpigmentation that follows?h The study will be carried out on 15
human volunteers. The test
sites will be studied histologically, using special stains to check the
details of melanization taking place. Salman, S. M., N. Rubeiz, and A. G.
