Incidence of astigmatism in regular cataract patients vs patients undergoing glaucoma triple procedure In
the glaucoma triple procedure cataract plus IOL and glaucoma surgery simultaneously),
the central portion of the incision is posteriorly located (4 mm from the
limbus) while the peripheral portion is exactly at the same location as
the regular cataract incision. The purpose of this study is to evaluate
the effect of this posteriorly located central portion of the incision
on the final amount of astigmatism. Patients are matched according to a)
axial length of the eye (error in axial length determination); b) pre-existing
astigmatism error of refraction; c) age of the patient. Standard t-test
is used to determine the incidence of astigmatism in both categories of
patients. We aim to show that moving the central 4 mm of the incision posteriorly
will reduce the amount of post operative astigmatism. (Research in progress.)
