RESEARCH PROJECTS
Women’s experiences of childbirth in Lebanon This
study uses a qualitative approach to understand women’s views and responses
to the management of their pregnancy and delivery. It aims to reveal women’s
awareness of the range of childbirth options and available choices, and
their actual needs concerning the experience of pregnancy and delivery.
Women, of all parities, who had a “healthy” child within the three months
preceding the study period are considered eligible for interviewing. Criteria
of selection are the care provider and the place of birth. A convenience
sample of 65 women, equally divided between Greater Beirut and the Bekaa,
will be selected by contacting the care provider and the place of delivery.
The instrument consists of focus group discussions and semi-structured
interviews. F. Ghorayeb, T. Kabakian and O. Campbell. (Supported
