Richard Dean
History of Moral Philosophy, Moral Theory, Applied Ethics


Richard Dean received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then taught for three years in the philosophy department at Rutgers University, before starting at the American University of Beirut in September 2002. He works in moral philosophy, from both historical and contemporary perspectives. He has published articles on Kant's ethics and on a decision-theoretical approach to ethics, and his book, The Value of Humanity in Kant's Moral Theory, was published by Oxford University Press in spring 2006.
