History
The radiation oncology practice at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) has over 40 years of history. It has been treating about 500 patients per year. Over the years, it has participated in all the local and regional conferences and has been active in publishing retrospective and prospective pilot studies.
The department and the AUBMC have a commitment to make available to the residents of Lebanon and the neighboring area, the latest in medical technology. Today, the department of radiation oncology is equipped with state of the art equipment:
- Two modern Linear Accelerators
- Simulator
- Several Treatment Planning Computers providing 2D, 3D conformal, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Stereotactic Brain Radiosurgery (SRS)
- Information Management System
- High Dose Rate Brachytherapy procedures
As is the case in the entire AUBMC, the radiation oncology department is also preparing to pass the Joint Commission Accreditation of International Hospitals (JCI).
