Members of the Faculty of Medicine have several sources of research
funds from within the University.
This fund is open to full-time faculty only. Funds are distributed to all 5 faculties and are awarded on a competitive basis within each faculty as suggested by individual Faculty Research Committees. Deadlines for submitting research proposals are set by each Faculty for funding as of October 1 of each year. 2- Medical Practice Plan (MPP) Research Fund This fund is open to all members of the Faculty of Medicine. Two cycles for funding exist: a Spring & a Fall cycle. The former is the main cycle in which approximately 80% of available fund for a particular year are distributed. The Fall Cycle is usually reserved for proposals by new faculty members, small or pilot studies (<$5000), and support of graduate student research projects. 3- Diana Tamari Sabbagh Research Fund This fund is open to researchers working in the DTS Bldg. in one of the four basic sciences departments: Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, and Human Morphology. The same two cycles, as for the MPP fund above, apply here as well. 4- Other Funds Occasionally other funds are available to support research activity within the Faculty of Medicine. For example, the Terry Fox Cancer Research Fund has been granted at times to the Faculty of Medicine to support research projects related to cancer. Such funds will be made known to the faculty as they become available.
