A sample plan of study for a prototypical graduate student is given below for both the thesis and project options. (GB_i: stands for a graduate course chosen from the list of requirements.)
Thesis option:
Semester 1: GB_1, GB_2, and one elective.
Semester 2: GB_3, GB_4 and one elective.
Semester 3: one elective.
Semester 4: one elective.
Students taking the Thesis option are expected to start their thesis work
during the summer following the second semester, continuing over the third
semester and finishing by the fourth.
Project option:
Semester 1: GB_1, GB_2, and one elective
Semester 2: GB_3, GB_4, and one elective
Semester 3: Two electives.
Semester 4: Two electives.
Students taking the Project option are expected to finish their project
requirements during the second year.
