New procedure for current and circulating journals

The University Libraries, in order to streamline procedures, have introduced the following:

All current journals that are picked up from the Serials Department will need to be checked out and returned to the main Circulation Desk in the Lobby of Jafet Library.

It is the responsibility of the user to go through the Circulation Desk for all borrowing and return transactions. As of March 31, 2004, the Serials Department will not be handling these operations.

University Libraries add E-Books to their resources

Recently the University Libraries selected "The ACLS History E-Book Project" to add to its electronic resources.
The academic and scholarly approach and content of this collection instigated the acquisition. The University Libraries are projecting their application academically, remotely and by simultaneous users.

The HEB, as this collection is known, includes a total of 800 titles of major importance to historical studies – titles which are vital for scholars and advanced students and that are frequently cited in the literature.
The American Council of Learned Societies, the sponsor of this project, is a collaborative effort of five societies such as the American Historical Association, the Middle East Studies Association, the African Studies Association, the Association for Asian Studies and the Latin American Studies Association.

The HEB is now posted on the main webpage of the University Libraries under Electronic Resources, E-Books. It may be browsed by author, title, subject, keyword and phrase. The full-text of the books can also be read online. New titles will be added and users will be informed accordingly.
