Whenever possible, this site will scan and briefly describe selected new titles that may be of interest for professors and students. The University Libraries acquire new materials based on departmental recommendations, in line with the Mission statement of the University and its Libraries
The Libraries acquire approximately 11-12,000 titles per year in both English and Arabic.

It is a must-read for anyone interested in the foreign policy challenges that America is facing.		The Emergence and Growth of Biotechnology: Experiences in Industrialized and Developing Countries By Acharya, Rohini Cheltenham, UK: Edward Elgar, 1999 Classmark: 338.4 A176e Acharya is an economist at the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, and examines in this book, the wide technology gap between the industrialized and developing nations. He explores the efforts made by policy makers and the leaders in the field to reduce those gaps, and analyses the development of financial mechanisms to hasten the adoption and diffusion of biotechnology – while sustaining biodiversity.
Financial Statement Fraud: Prevention and Detection By Rezaee, Zabihollah New York: Wiley, 2002 Classmark: 657.3 R467f With financial statement fraud taking center stage in major US companies recently, considerable attention has been given to methods of combating it. The author assesses the consequences of financial statement fraud and its impact on the integrity of companies guilty of it. Case studies, guidelines and tactics are provided to shed light on the topic. Nestle goes behind the scenes to reveal and expose how the competition works and how it affects the health of consumers. The food industry does everything possible to persuade people to eat more and in larger portions – regardless of what this does to health and to the waistlines. The book also describes the political clout the companies exert to maintain themselves – outside the public eye.
Dance and Authenticity in Israel and Palestine: Performing the Nation By Kaschl, Elke Leiden: Brill, 2003 An innovative way of looking at relations between Israelis and Palestinians, the book traces the history of dabkeh as a dance form that has been adopted by both peoples. It is an ethnographic study of two Palestinian and on Israeli Jewish dance groups conducted between 1998 and 1999, showing how dance forms can contribute to evolving notions of collective national and political identity in a context of unequal power.		Shakespeare’s Tribe: Church, Nation and Theatre in Renaissance England By Knapp, Jeffrey Chicago, Ill.: The University of Chicago Press, 2002 Classmark: 822.33 K 675s Drawing on a variety of celebrated and little-known plays, along with a host of other documents and texts of the English Renaissance, Knapp explores the different assumptions that shaped belief in the theater’s religious potential.
