New Service

The University Libraries/Information Services Department is now offering Thesis and Term Paper Clinics for all students. These one-on-one sessions are set up by appointments and include demonstrating the use of the resources based on specific topics of research.

Staff

The University Libraries welcome the return of Ms. Ghada Nuwayhid, who has received an MLIS degree (Master in Library and Information Sciences) in December 2003, from the University of Pittsburgh. Ghada used to be the Assistant to the Librarian in the Cataloguing Department in Jafet. As of January 2004, she holds the title of Catalog Librarian.

Mrs. Samar Mikati Kaissi, Library Assistant in the Archives and Special Collections Department in Jafet, will be joining the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences (GSLIS) at Simmons College in January 2004, to work for a Master of Library Science with a concentration in Archives Management. Mrs. Kaissi will be back in January 2005 to become the Archives and Special Collections Librarian, replacing Mrs. Asma Fathallah, who retired this year.

Both staff members have been sponsored by a continuing professional education program at the University Libraries. Such a program will increase the number of professional librarians to twelve.
