- The Department of Surgery presents "Medical Research at AUBMC Today... and the Vision for the Future" by Hafez El Zein, MD, MS on Monday June 5, 2006, 7:30 a.m in SB 101. All are welcome.
- The Lebanese Society for General Surgery is holding its C.S.E. 2006
second meeting titled “Minimally Invasive Techniques in General Surgery” at Issam Fares Hall on the 25th of February 2006.
- Dr. Safadi recently joined the Division of General Surgery as Associate
Professor of Clinical Surgery. He graduated from AUB in 1992 with distinction
and earned the Penrose and Academic Excellence Awards. He then trained in
general surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and pursued further
training in surgical endoscopy and advanced laparoscopic surgery in Cleveland
and at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his surgical
training in 1999, and he joined Stanford University as an Assistant Professor in
the Department of Surgery. In addition, he was the Fellowship Director of its
Minimally Invasive Surgical Program. Dr. Safadi brings with him a vast
experience in minimally invasive surgery and specifically, bariatric (i.e.
weight loss) surgery.
- It gives us great pleasure to announce that Dr. Mohammad
Jawad Khalife, Associate Professor of Surgery and member of
the Division of General Surgery, was appointed as Minister
of Public Health. We all offer him our support and wish him
success in his new appointment.
- Professor Randy Williamson from the Empirial College will be visiting the AUBMC Division of General Surgery on Friday April 29,2005. He will assist Dr. Jaber Abbas in performing pancreatic surgery on a patient with a malignant cystic tumor of the pancreas.
- The general surgery grand round is an interactive case presentation and discussion. It is held every Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in SB 101. Surgical staff from different hospitals in town attend this very valuable conference.
- The monthly joint conference with Makassed General Hospital is held on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Makassed conference room.
