In Landscape design

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the full time faculty position in Landscape design at the level of Assistant Professor or above.

Starting date:  When a qualified applicant is found:

We seek prominent candidates holding a PhD or a Master’s degree in Landscape Design/Architecture, and whose personal and professional experience in the practice of landscape design and planning assures leadership in teaching and research, in an interdisciplinary departmental work environment.

The successful candidate is expected to teach an undergraduate level design studio and one theory course (Landscape history) per semester. The candidate is also expected to be familiar with computer aided design and planning software, and should demonstrate good communication and cross-cultural skills.

In Horticulture

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the full-time faculty position in Horticulture at the level of Assistant Professor or above.

Starting Date: When a qualified applicant is found.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Horticulture with demonstrable expertise in sustainable horticulture practices in the production of fruit and vegetable crops and a record of successful teaching and research.

Responsibilities include teaching and research in production and post- harvest handling of crops grown in both subtropical and temperate climatic regions. The horticulturist will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team to improve horticultural production practices in Lebanon and to train both undergraduate and graduate horticultural students.

Facilities include both greenhouses and laboratories on the subtropical coastal plain in Beirut and the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, a 100 ha farm located in the temperate Bekaa valley eighty kilometers from Beirut.

In Food Science

Application for a faculty position in Food Science in the Nutrition and Food Science Department at the level of Assistant Professor or above, available February 1, 2009:

The Faculty seeks prominent candidates holding a PhD in Food Science (Food Engineering/Chemical Engineering emphasis), and whose personal and professional experience assures leadership in teaching and research.

The successful candidate is expected to teach an equivalent of a total of two courses per semester in graduate and undergraduate levels related to Food Engineering, Food Packaging and Food Processing. The candidate is also expected to direct graduate students research.

The Department offers access to a pilot plant facility with main pieces of equipment (pasteurizer, homogenizer, spray drier, etc...), analytical equipment (HPLC, Texture Analyzer,…).
