Coordinator's Message

The External Programs Office at the Faculty of Medicine/American University of Beirut Medical Center (FM/AUBMC) is a relatively new program which operates to help implementing the mission of our medical center. This mission is to provide better care of the sick, investigation of their problems, and further education of those who serve. It works in close collaboration with the Regional External Programs (REP) at AUB.

With the new era of globalization, changes in the medical market demands and technological advances, FM/AUBMC, like all institutions of higher education, is preparing to face its share of challenges and opportunities. It is planning to expand and grow to better serve the peoples of the Middle East and beyond. To do this, it looks for association with various health care organizations that share its vision and values. These values include: integrity in all of its endeavors, commitment to innovation and excellence, diversity and accountability to our communities and to the public.

The External Programs Office designed a business plan dependent on mobility, flexibility, determination and connections. It communicates, collaborates, and conducts academic/medical exchanges with universities/hospitals from the region and throughout the world.

We believe the cooperation between the FM/AUBMC and its associates will promote and help the practice and delivery of high quality medical services and care to our region. FM/AUBMC looks forward to strengthening its relationships with the various ongoing programs and is entertaining new associations. Exchange of experts and consultants in the fields of health and medical sciences, as well as the exchange of registered nurses, medical teams, and allied health professionals will be a component of this cooperation.

In the end, we anticipate and look forward to a fruitful cooperation that is of mutual benefit to all involved parties and to the peoples of the region.

Sincerely yours,

Fadi Bitar, MD
Coordinator, External Programs
Professor of Pediatrics
