AUBMC has always been a leader in the region's healthcare field. It was among the first medical centers outside the United States
to acquire full accreditation by the
Joint Commission on Accreditation
of HealthCare Organizations (JCAHO). The Medical Center was
surveyed and accredited repeatedly from 1956 for a period that
spanned over two decades. Presently, AUBMC is fully accredited
by the Lebanese Ministry of Health and has recently been awarded
full accreditation by the
Joint
Commission International (JCI).
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at AUBMC has
been accredited by the commission on laboratory accreditation of
the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results
of a site inspection since February 2004. The department is one of
the more than 6000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.
The Nursing Services Department at AUBMC is aspiring for Magnet
designation. Established in 1993 and awarded by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), it is the nursing
profession’s top honor that recognizes quality patient care and
exemplary nursing leadership. Achieving Magnet status means that the
AUBMC patients' families and the community, at large, will be
confident that our Medical Center provides the highest quality
of patient care.
AUBMC gains this recognition for its relentless commitment to
continually evaluating its performance and maintaining its degree
of excellence. This reputation has also been recognized by
mdtravelhealth.com,
a useful website used by physicians and
travelers that provides complete travel health information,
updated daily. It also provides a guide to infectious disease and travel
medicine specialists who are available to give various travel
vaccinations. Under Lebanon’s summary of recommendations, the Executive Health & Travel Center is listed as a
recommended medical facility for travel advice and medical care.
