What is a share?
Sharers get a weekly basket containing a minimum of 8 varieties of fresh organic fruits and vegetables varying according to the season. Other healthy products are usually added such as organic dried legumes, Balady eggs, organic jams and pickles, etc... There are two sizes of shares: a regular share designed to provide the weekly needs of a family of two and a large share for a family of four.
Sharers cannot freely choose what is in their baskets. The content of the weekly basket is a function of which vegetables and fruits are in season at the time of delivery. However, some flexibility is provided at each drop-off point through the swap basket where sharers can trade one or two items that they don't like. An approximate production calendar was created with the farmers. It gives the sharers an idea of what they will receive during the season. The selection and volume of produce varies from week to week, according to seasonal availability. However, the basket will contain a minimum of 8 different varieties each week.
