How do you know that your fruits and vegetables are produced organically?

It is vital that consumers be assured that the products they are getting are produced organically. This is usually guaranteed when certification is available. However, no certifying body has yet been established in Lebanon, and inspection by an external certifying body was not possible for this season.

Although not certified organic, the produce of the basket is harvested from farms that are regularly visited by an organic agriculture expert from the American University of Beirut (AUB). On the other hand, spot checks are done when products are taken from farms that are not under the management of AUB.
