PATIENT CARE

Inpatients
Patients suffering from skin diseases that require in-hospital care are admitted to AUBMC by the Department of Dermatology staff. The attending staff, all of whom are highly qualified physicians trained along USA medical centers' programs, spend every effort to administer the best medical care possible. The attending physicians have access to the entire modern and up-to-date equipment and facilities available at AUBMC. Diagnoses are established, treatments are instituted and management courses are outlined prior to patients' discharge.

Outpatients
Being essentially an ambulatory specialty, dermatology is mainly concerned with outpatients. Patients with skin diseases and persons requiring special skin care are managed as outpatients in the Private Clinics and the Outpatient Department (OPD).

A careful workup is performed, including adequate history taking and a thorough physical (dermatological) examination. Routine office investigations, including Wood’s Lamp Exam, smears and cultures, are done. Tzank smears and skin biopsies are performed when indicated. Treatment is prescribed, and followup visits are scheduled.
