The functions of the Science and Mathematics Education Center are:

• Teaching of science and mathematics education courses in collaboration with the Department of Education.

• Research and development in the fields of science and mathematics education.

• Production of textbooks, experimental curricula, and instructional materials in science and mathematics.

• Consultation in science and mathematics to schools, institutions, or governments regarding curriculum planning, textbooks, laboratories, equipment, and methods of evaluation.

• In-service training of science and mathematics teachers by means of institutes, conferences, workshops, or evening classes in conjunction with other DEP units.
