There is no health without mental health: some experiences in the developing world

Professor Araya did his medical training in Chile and post-graduate training at the Institute of Psychiatry in London.  He worked for several years at the Ministry of Health in Chile.  Subsequently he set up a mental health research unit in Chile.  He is currently working at the University of Bristol, UK.  He is engaged in research projects in the UK and several other countries including Brazil, Chile, India and Sri Lanka.  He has published extensively in his subject including two recent clinical trials published in Lancet.

A summary of the findings included in the Lancet Series on Global Mental Health were presented including some examples of successful experiences of interventions to treat mental disorders in the developing world.
