Network of Arab Demography (NAD)

In April 2006, the CRPH initiated the Network of Arab Demography (NAD) by hosting a workshop with demographers from 11 regional countries. The mission of NAD is to promote research, to build capacity in the area of population and development, and to serve as a forum for interaction among scholars interested in population issues in the Arab region. Its objectives include:

  • Compiling and disseminating existing and new research findings and studies in population-related topics in the Arab region, and sharing them with researchers in the field.
  • Encouraging and promoting collaboration among researchers with common interests in and outside the Arab region.
  • Increasing the presence and participation of Arab demographers in international conferences.
  • Improving the standard and quality of research
  • Raising awareness of population issues in the Arab region.

Reproductive Health Working Group (RHWG)

The RHWG was initiated by a committee on reproductive health that was formed at the Population Council's West Asia and North Africa regional office (WANA) in 1988.  Hosted by the CRPH since 2004, the RHWG has developed into a regional network of scholars based in several Arab countries and Turkey.

Members belong to different disciplines and fields of inquiry and share an interest in the exchange of ideas and the production of high quality research focusing on reproductive health and other research interests relevant to the region, which are culturally sensitive and inform policy formulation. CRPH affiliates are involved in defining the RHWG’s research agenda and in participating in the RHWG annual meeting for sharing results and experiences.
