Densitometry Unit

Unit is equipped with a state of the art Dual Energy X-ray densitometer with the latest software technology and  is staffed by technologists trained internationally. Quality assurance protocols in accordance with the criteria of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) are applied. ISCD is the world leader in bone densitometry education and certification. The ISCD provides comprehensive education courses in bone densitometry and offers certification exams for clinicians and technologists. Clinical scans for densitometric assessment of the spine, hip, forearm, total body, and convenient instant vertebral morphometry for assessment of prevalence of vertebral fractures are available. Reports are read by physicians licensed by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. The Unit also offers advanced densitometry applications for including hip prosthesis, and body composition analyses.

Core Laboratory for Hormonal Assays

With more than 30 years experience in the field of radio-immunoassays and related technology, it continues to provide quality service based on up-to-date technology. Updated hormonal assays for disorders of bone and mineral metabolism are offered. These include: intact parathyroid hormone assay, 25(OH) and 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D assays, and assays of bone formation including osteocalcin and of bone resorption such as Cross-laps. The lab is participating in the international quality assurance program for vitamin D measurements,  Vitamin D External Quality Assessment Scheme (DEQAS). The laboratory is staffed by three senior individuals with established expertise in immuno-assays including the chief laboratory technician who has special expertise in assays related to bone and mineral metabolism.
