Research

Spiroacetals form an important class of biologically active molecules.

My research focuses on the synthesis of spiroacetals and then combining this chemical framework with nucleoside bases which also have important biological activity. The similarity of the spiroacetal ring system to carbohydrates also opens the possibility of synthesizing some exciting nucleoside analogues which have the potential of exhibiting antiviral activity.
