In an article, “AUB: Molders of Leaders,” published previously in AUBulletin Today (Vol. 6 No. 3), we listed some of the renowned AUB alumni who are now ministers and members of Parliament in Lebanon and the Middle East. The list keeps growing. We can now add two other AUB alumni, who are now members of the new Jordanian cabinet, formed on April 7. Farouk Kasrawi, former Jordanian ambassador and Royal Court consultant in 2003, was appointed Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. He succeeds another AUB alumnus, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Muasher. Kasrawi received his BA in public administration from AUB in 1962. The second minister, who was re-appointed Minister of Education and Higher Learning, is Khaled Toukan, who graduated from AUB with a BE in 1977 and went on to earn his PhD in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1982.
