The Department of Biology is situated at the lower end of the AUB Campus facing the Mediterranean Sea. The Department has active research and teaching programs in environmental biology, marine and aquatic ecology, genetics, cancer biology, microbiology, molecular and cellular biology, neurobiology and immunology, plant physiology, animal physiology, and entomology. It is a four-floor building and includes faculty offices, graduate student offices, teaching and research labs, a natural history museum, and a computer lab.

The Departmental facilities are comprised of three well-equipped research labs in addition to 7 research labs as annexes to faculty offices, cell culture rooms, radioactivity rooms, and animal room facilities. Two teaching labs (Microbiology and Genetics) are available outside teaching hours for research purposes.

For teaching purposes, the Department has two classrooms and access to one large lecture hall, all of which are equipped to function as smart classrooms and feature equipment for projection of computer software-based presentations as well as traditional audio-visual teaching material.
