Configuring Outlook Express
(For AUB Students Only)

 
Step by step guide to configure Oulook Express: (For Students Only)

STEP 1:
- Open Outlook Express by double clicking its icon on the desktop

 

STEP 2:
- Create an account by going to "Tools" menu and choosing "Accounts"
- The "Internet Accounts" window will appear on your screen


STEP 3:
- Click on "Add" then choose "Mail" from the context menu
- The first window of the "Internet Connection Wizard" will appear on your screen

 

STEP 4:
- Type in your name in the "Display Name" box then click on "Next"
- The "Internet E-mail Address" window will appear on your screen

 

STEP 5:
- Type your E-mail address in the "E-mail address" box then click on "Next"
- The "E-mail Servers Names" window will appear on your screen

 

STEP 6:
- Specify your incoming mail server as: pop3s.students.aub.edu.lb
-
Specify your outgoing mail server as: ssmtp.students.aub.edu.lb
-
Click "Next"
- The "Internet Mail Logon" window will appear on your screen

 

STEP 7:
- Type your AUBnet username under "Account name"
- Type your AUBnet password under "Password"
- Click on "Next"

 

STEP 8:
- You have now created your new account
- Click on "Finish"

 
STEP 9:
Even though you have finished your new account creation, some properties still need to be changed.

- Select your newly created mail account and click on "Properties"


STEP 10:
- Click on the "Servers" tab of the Properties window
- Check the "My server requires authentication" checkbox
- Click on the "Advanced" tab


STEP 11:
- Specify Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number: 465 and check the SSL box
- Specify your Incoming POP3 port number: 995 and check the SSL box
- Click on "Apply" and then on "OK" to apply the changes
- Click on "Close" to close the window

 

STEP 12:
- To check your mail click on "Send/Recv" on the menu bar



Note:

  • Exact menu placements of above options may vary between versions of Outlook Express
  • When sending and receiving mail, ignore any warnings about hostname and certificate mismatch.
