Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture
Application for a full time faculty position in LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE at the level of Assistant Professor or above, starting date when a qualified applicant is found:
We seek prominent candidates holding a PhD or a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and whose professional experience in the practice of landscape design and planning assures leadership in teaching and research, in an interdisciplinary departmental work environment.
Preference is given to candidates with strong theoretical and professional experience and interest in urban and peri-urban landscape architecture in the Middle East and North Africa.
The successful candidate is expected to teach one design studio and one theory course per semester. The candidate is also expected to engage in interdisciplinary research and undertake community-based activities.

Assistant Professor in Vetrinary Sciences
The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for a full-time assistant professor position in Veterinary Sciences for a period of four years. The starting date of the appointment is September 15, 2012.
Applicants should possess a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) preferably with a PhD in Veterinary Sciences with clinical experience and demonstrable expertise. Responsibilities include teaching courses in animal anatomy, veterinary embryology, veterinary pathophysiology and applied ethology, and development of a graduate program in Veterinary Sciences.
Facilities include laboratories at the American University of Beirut campus, in Beirut, and at the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, a 100 ha farm located in the temperate Bekaa valley, eighty kilometers from Beirut, with many barns that are used for domestic animals and for demonstrations.

Assistant Professor or above: Agribusiness Marketing and Management
The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, at the American University of Beirut seeks a full-time faculty appointee who will develop distinguished research and teaching programs in the fields of Agribusiness marketing and management. The appointment will be at the level of Assistant Professor or above, starting September 15, 2012.
Responsibilities:
Develop and conduct a teaching and research program in the Department of Agricultural Sciences in agribusiness marketing and management and related areas. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses (four per year - fall and spring semesters) in the marketing and management of food, fiber and agribusiness-related products, marketing research, marketing plans, entrepreneurship and other courses consistent with both the needs of the department and the expertise of the candidate.
This position will also incorporate responsibilities in advising undergraduate and graduate students in Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics, serving as a liaison with professional local and regional Agro-food organizations, and outreach service within the Faculty’s extension programs. The person filling this position will have the opportunity to work closely with other faculty in related and complementary teaching, research, extension and applied research programs.
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Agribusiness Management, Business, Marketing, Agricultural Economics, or a closely related field. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong teaching capability, competence in statistical and programming techniques, excellent communication skills, and potential for developing an internationally recognized research agenda including securing and conducting externally-funded research.
· Demonstrated ability to teach is imperative. Preference will be given to a person with experience in marketing and management from previous teaching or other employment. The position requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing and the skill to be an effective teacher in the classroom or other public forums.

Assistant Professor or above: Irrigation Engineering and Water Management
The Department of Agricultural Sciences at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the full-time faculty position in Irrigation and Water Management at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. The starting date of the appointment is September 15, 2012. The position is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position. Appointments are for an initial period of four years.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in irrigation with demonstrable expertise in design of irrigation systems, on-farm water conservation and water management and a record of successful teaching and research. Practical experience in arid and /or semi-arid regions is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching courses in soil physics, irrigation and designing irrigation systems and conducting research in water management, water conservation, water use efficiency and productivity in semi arid regions. The incumbent will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team to conserve water in Lebanon and to train both undergraduate and graduate agricultural students for MSc. degrees. The standard teaching load is 6 credits each semester plus an active research program.
- Participating in management planning of facilities including both greenhouses and laboratories in Beirut and the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, a 100 ha farm located in the temperate Bekaa valley eighty kilometers from Beirut.
