OUR
OBJECTIVE
The Political
Science and Public Administration Society was established in the 1980s in the
PSPA department of the American University of Beirut. The aim of the Society is
primarily to bring together students of the department in an atmosphere of
dialogue, constructive criticism and debate, as well as student activism. It
organizes activities such as lectures and debates which reflect current local
and international political issues. Social activities include receptions and
gatherings. The Society also conducts surveys with academic relevance.
The courses
offered in the department provide students with the essentials of Political
Studies and encourage research and in-depth understanding of contemporary trends
and issues in the field. This academic background, coupled with the Society’s
mission, create an environment of activism and communication which enables
students to combine knowledge with practical experience. This facilitates a
positive environment of coordination and cooperation among both Political
Studies and Public Administration majors, as well as between professors and the
students.
