Waleed HazbunShort Biography
Waleed Hazbun is Assistant Professor at the Johns
Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland (on leave) and will serve as Visiting
Assistant
Professor in the Department of Political Studies and Public Administration for
the Spring 2006-7 and Fall 2007-8. After graduating from Princeton University
in 1990 he went on to complete a PhD in political science at MIT in 2002.
He has published articles in the journals Arab Studies Quarterly and
Geopolitics; written pieces for Middle East Report, Urban Affairs Review,
Baltimore Sun, and Jordan Times; and contributed chapters to the edited
collections Jordan in Transition (Palgrave 2002) and The Business of Tourism
(Penn, 2007).
A book manuscript on the international political economy of tourism development
in the Middle East entitled "Itineraries of Globalization" based on research in
Tunisia and Jordan is nearly complete. During his time teaching at AUB he will
begin a new project investigating US-Middle East relations and the politics of
modernization since 1945.
