  • Al-Mustaqbal of May 6 published a lengthy article about the future of Lebanon’s political system. The paper interviewed many experts, including Dr. Nawaf Salam, an AUB professor at the PSPA Department, who talked about democracy in Lebanon and the upcoming parliamentary elections, stressing the importance of its being honest and free.
     

April, 2005

  • L'Hebdo Magazine of April 23 reported on the conference entitled "The Actors of the War 1975-1990" that was organized by the Goethe Institute celebrating the 50th anniversary of its presence in Lebanon. Nawaf Salam, a jurist and a lecturer at AUB was among the participants. Salam is the author the book "The Options For Lebanon

July, 2005

  • The Jordan Times of July 21st 2005 and The Arab Times of the 21st and 22nd of July 2005 reported on the many tough tasks awaiting the new Lebanese government. On top of the list are the implementation of U.N. resolution 1559 and maintenance of good relations with Syria, on which the American University of Beirut professor Nawaf Salam stated, “Lebanese-Syrian relations need to be urgently redefined following the forced Syrian military pullout from Lebanon to prevent the economic suffocation of our country because of the blockade imposed by Damascus.” Other tasks facing the new Prime Minister Siniora are the reduction of the public debts, revamping the economy, and modernizing state institutions.
