Future Development

  • AUB has established and is now raising funds for the Edward Said Chair of American Studies.  The endowed chair, announced in the Spring of 2004, commemorates the memory of Dr. Said who often urged the university to establish a program in American Studies.

 

  • The CASAR Executive Committee is exploring the establishment of an M.A. Program in American Studies.

 

  • Another priority is to develop American studies expertise among AUB faculty and to bring new faculty to AUB through visiting professorships, and possibly full time positions.

 

  • CASAR is seeking to help develop a classroom dedicated to video and internet conferencing that would allow AUB students to directly connect with students at foreign universities.

 

  • CASAR is exploring links with American Studies programs in other universities.
