Sources of Funding
CASAR was established in 2004 after receiving a
generous $5.2 million endowment from His Royal
Highness Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz
Alsaud.
In his remarks at the endowment ceremony, Prince
Alwaleed expressed that "it is incumbent
upon us to teach our own people about the United
States... [CASAR] is in an effort to deepen our
understanding of the US, as well as to bridge the
gap that emerged between the US and the Arab
World."
Prince Alwaleed also provided funding for the
creation of the
Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud
Center for American Studies and Research at the American University in Cairo.
The American University of Beirut has also
dedicated resources to CASAR, and continues
fund-raising efforts on CASAR’s behalf.
