Robert B. Bailey Scholarship
The Robert B. Bailey Scholarship is intended to
promote the participation in CIEE’s International Study Programs of
individuals or members of groups that have traditionally been
underrepresented in study abroad, especially ethnic minority students. The
applicant must be a U.S. citizen, and self-identified as belonging to an
underrepresented group in the Personal Statement essay.
The National Security Education Program (NSEP)
NESP offers two fellowships: the David L. Boren Fellowship
and the National Flagship Language Initiative Fellowship.
David L.
Boren Graduate Fellowships
David L. Boren Graduate
Fellowships support students pursuing the study of languages, cultures, and
world regions that are critical to U.S. interests, including the Middle
East. Study of a foreign language appropriate to the identified country or
region must be an integral part of each application. The language component
must incorporate opportunities to develop, maintain, or advance proficiency
in a language, including instruction and application inside and outside the
classroom setting.
The National
Flagship Language Program (NFLP)
The National Flagship
Language Program (NFLP) was developed to address the urgent and growing need
for Americans with professional levels of competency in languages critical
to national security, one of which is Arabic. NFLP is designed to train
participants to reach professional working proficiency in a target language.
Foreign Languages and
Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS)
The Summer FLAS
Fellowship is an annual competition designed to finance intensive foreign
language study for graduate students in languages deemed critical to U.S.
national security, including Arabic.
