AUB Music Club Takes a Leap for the Stars

AUB music club perform a wide selection of musical styles

The AUB Music Club took a leap for the stars this spring with its four-day concert in West Hall's Bathish Auditorium. The concert, titled "Leap" in line with the 366-day leap year, included the talents of over ten bands. Most of the performers were AUB students, but a few local Lebanese bands also participated in the jamboree of music.

The Music Club's efforts were more than impressive, as was evident by the enthusiasm within the walls of West Hall throughout the four nights, as excitement exuded off stage and kept the fans rooting for more. The music performed included a wide selection of styles, among them contemporary punk, jazz, acid jazz, progressive, new experimental, oriental, and even some Latin hits. The club's president Rasha Abuhamad said the aim was to offer a full variety of music in hopes of "breaking the typical punk and heavy metal image students seem to have of the club."

The AUB Music Club strives to deliver high quality concerts to their fellow AUBites and to the community for two reasons. First, it wants to provide students the opportunity to perform live on stage and experience the thrill of expressing their talents. And second, the club seeks to enhance the AUB experience by helping the students understand the important value of music appreciation in their lives.

Given the kind sponsorship of GS Grand Stores, RadioOne, Dar Al Kotob, and Red Bull, "Leap" more than fulfilled the club's goals. We all look forward to more future concerts.
