AUB Visiting Professor Dies

Andrew Vincent, a visiting assistant professor of political studies and public administration at AUB, suddenly passed away on April 6, and on the morning of April 8 his students and colleagues gathered in front of West Hall to pay tribute to him. The memorial came after the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Khalil Bitar, informed the AUB community with sadness that Vincent had passed away after a prolonged illness.

Professor Vincent was the director of the Macquarie Center for Middle East and North African Studies at Macquarie University in Australia. He was an AUB alumnus and earned an MA in Middle Eastern studies in 1982. Pursuing further studies, he earned his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania and then assumed various academic positions in Australia, his home country.

Professor Vincent continued to hold his classes at AUB, in spite of his illness, until his sudden death. He is survived by his wife, Petra Canard.
